Isaiah 61:1
The Spirit of the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the meek; he has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound."
Our 2004 annual Prison Ministry Conference featured a federal prison inmate praise and worship team. They were so anointed and sang with all of their heart to the Lord. The congregation was so blessed and forever changed by these precious inmates, knowing that even though they were in prison, they could "STILL SING" praises to their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Shirley Caeser sings a song: Even a Jailbird Sings. The first time and every time that I listen to that song, I feel Holy Ghost chill bumps and my heart is filled with joy because I know from experience that some of the most devoted, sincere, committed soldiers of the Lord's Army are hidden behind prison
walls. They are God's "treasures" that He is
forming under the pressure of daily life in prison. When the time comes for Him to reveal
these treasures, the world will be awed and
changed by their ministry. God has a Bride in
prison! The world might call them "Jailbirds"
but even a Jailbird sings!
